If you are interested in learning to identify and control noxious weeds and other invasive plants (or just to freshen up your skills), then we have the classes for you! We have two options to choose from: a two-hour evening workshop and an all day seminar repeated on three different dates. Both will cover lots of noxious weed ID and control info, but the all day seminar will also cover additional topics that will be useful for vegetation management professionals, restoration crews and landscapers. All classes are free and open to anyone who is interested, but registration is required.

Noxious Weeds and Invasive Plants in King County – Evening Workshop
This class will cover problem plants found in a wide range of habitats including backyards, forests, fields, shorelines and parks. There will be live weed specimens on display to help you improve your ability to recognize noxious weeds. This class will be helpful for anyone seeking to control noxious and invasive weeds and for those who are simply interested in learning more about these harmful species.

Noxious Weed Control Recertification Seminar
This seminar is useful for people who need to identify or control noxious weeds, including vegetation management professionals, landscapers, restoration crews and public works employees. Topics for 2018 include: new weed species to watch for, identification and control of key species, how to do Integrated Vegetation Management, riparian weed control (including the popular knotweed injector training!), and WSDA pesticide rule updates and tips for applicators.

Goodness! There are actually potted examples!
It’s my special talent – keeping weeds alive in pots without infesting the neighborhood! It’s worth it for the teaching but it does go against my instincts to water them in the summer.

Thanks for your interest! The evening class will cover the same general information but it may cover a few different weeds.
