The program is recruiting for two positions this month: a full-time Noxious Weed Control Specialist II and a seasonal Education Specialist. The Noxious Weed Control Specialist II opening is for one of the program’s eight Regional Weed Specialist positions. The person hired will work with public and private landowners and county residents in a region of the county to achieve noxious weed control goals and priorities of King County and the Washington State Noxious Weed Law. This is a challenging but rewarding position that offers a wide range of activities both in the field and in the office. The person will work both independently and as part of a team. The position is a full-time, career service, year-round, benefit-eligible position. The salary range for the position is $27.09 – $34.34 Hourly. The closing date for applications is February 3, 2019. The Education Specialist position’s primary goal is to deliver outreach, technical assistance and education services equitably to county residents, with particular emphasis on reaching traditionally underserved communities in King County including people who speak languages other than English, people of color, tribal communities and low income residents. The person hired for this position will assist the program’s communication specialist with implementing a wide range of education and outreach tools designed to increase the public’s awareness and knowledge about noxious weeds and engagement in noxious weed control and stewardship activities. The position is a career service seasonal position that will work full-time for 7-8 months out of the year, approximately March to October. There will be some evenings and weekends required depending on scheduled events. The salary range for the position is $26.45 – $33.53 Hourly. The closing date for applications is February 10, 2019.
